GAA Abu DhabiThis course really helped clarify some of the things I have seen in my own class but never really understood. For many years, I had children who appear to have grasped English. Then, I have been confused as to why they suddenly slow down. Now I understand why! In the past, I would also have been likely to remove scaffolding as the children begin to grow in confidence – now I know differently. Many things clicked into place for me on this course and I feel much more comfortable supporting my BMLs now.

YCIS Hong KongThere were many takeaways from this course. I liked the unit on special needs and the assessment methods I can use more systematically next academic year. This course ignited fabulous conversations, established new links between teachers and it has ultimately planted seeds for organisational change within our school.

St Michael’s International School, Kobe, JapanDeidre led a very successful biennial governance training session for the Board and Council of St Michael’s International School, Kobe in February 2018. With very little time to prepare, she grasped the ethos and spirit of the School. Her understanding of the journey we have made in the past decade and our present concerns resulted in a day of learning well tailored to our current situation. Not only did Deidre meet all the objectives she had been asked to address, she did so in a style that engaged all the participants and which they all enjoyed. Feedback from members was unanimously positive, one saying it was the best training session she’d attended. The variety of activities aided in keeping attention during a long day; as a result, enthusiasm didn’t flag throughout. The training was particularly useful at a period of change in governance of the School. It allowed newer and perhaps shyer members of the Council to express their views and develop confidence in their ability to benefit the governance of the School. Deidre’s comments on the governance of the School were very reassuring and it was most helpful to be shown we have already taken many of the necessary steps to tackle issues on our agenda in the coming months. We wholeheartedly recommend Deidre as a governance trainer and would be happy to have her back for future sessions at St Michael’s.

Chadwick International School, South KoreaDeidre has provided me over many years with great support and advice as an educational leader. Since meeting her at international recruitment fairs, I have gone to her many times for advice both in recruiting teachers and in my own search for opportunities. She has such a wide range of knowledge, contacts and experiences in international education that her advice is always honest, meaningful and insightful. Personally she has helped me and other through some very challenging situations with a common sense approach that cuts to the chase, and helps you to understand what is important in supporting student learning.

Discovery College, Hong KongDeidre has been an invaluable mentor. Particularly during times when a difficult decision has to be made, she has enabled me, through her coaching, to focus on what is important, to prioritise and decide on things that are non-negotiable. This has helped me to make informed decisions with more objectivity which, I feel have guided me in the right direction.

Bali International School, IndonesiaDeidre provided three workshops for us in July 2015 as part of our teacher in-service week. One workshop led the staff through a review of the Mission statement and our new tag line. This workshop fostered great conversations that have continued throughout the school year. Deidre organised the workshop in a way that was engaging and resulted in concrete outcomes that have continued to be beneficial for the school. The second workshop was for middle management, both academic and administration, in leadership skills and challenges. This was a small group with very different cultural backgrounds and understandings of leadership. Deidre took on this challenge and supported each participant to grow in his/her understanding of his/her own leadership role in the school. This was our first foray into small, tailored workshops and it was quite successful and appreciated. The last workshop was a two-day Board training workshop. Deidre immediately switched gears and led our Board to a deeper understanding of its function. She engaged both new and returning Board members and ensured that all members felt encouraged to participate. Her work with the Board helped set us up for our successful CIS/WASC visit that just occurred last month. As you can see, Deidre is very versatile and can support many strategic PD aims. It was invaluable for us to have her with us for these days; covering so many of our identified needs. This was done through a very thorough planning process and input from myself as Head of School, which I appreciated. Deidre doesn’t just take her same old presentation /workshop out of the closet and bring it, she considers the needs of the particular school and comes up with a differentiated program – modelling what we are asking of our teachers!

International School of MyanmarThe International School of Myanmar began the year online. Finding effective remote teaching strategies was a professional development need that our teaching staff desired and requested to assist them with delivering effective learning to our students online. Tom Driscoll tailored his professional development program to fit the needs of our school, utilized in-house expertise from our staff, and built upon our current program and resources to provide us with practical, efficient, and effective approaches in delivering Project-Based Learning remotely. His training is proving to be not only useful and needed while conducting online learning but will continue to further our program as we move to hybrid and face to face to learning.

Vientiane International School, LaosThese sessions have been some of the best professional learning I’ve had in my twenty-three years in education. (EKC) understands hardworking teachers, the constraints of international school schedules, and the necessity of differentiation, and the workshops keep all learners in mind. I know that after a course, I feel inspired and have ready-to-use tools and strategies to apply right away.

Kazakhstan International SchoolWe used VHS learning to help coordinate our distance learning plan. We had a series of teacher “champions” take the 4 week courses and another group of “advocates” follow the webinar series. These teachers grew as practitioners and were able to put student and teacher voice into our plan. Each champion presented a section of their course and essential agreements around best practices within our school context were established. VHS were extremely helpful and flexible and this PD was exceptional value for money.

Berlin Brandenburg International School, GermanyThank you for everything; such a wonderful and uplifting course! I truly enjoyed every minute. It was so well put together, informative, and helpful in all respects!

British School ManilaI have never seen professional learning have such a huge impact. These courses are also the best value I’ve seen in at least a decade.

Vientiane International School, LaosIt was truly astounding how positive the feedback was…, even from some of our most skeptical members of staff! Everyone gained a huge amount of knowledge and understanding… Not only were teachers upskilled, but there was also a sense of renewed motivation and energy for literacy teaching… It is nearly two years on, and we are still drawing on this energy! Administrators were equally impressed with the work and on a personal note, as Leader of Literacy, Erin’s coaching was some of the best PD I have ever had.

Beijing City International SchoolKyle was very organized and thoughtful in his delivery, had a very strong knowledge in the area, and was very supportive for those who are new to project-based learning, or already had a very good knowledge of the approach. Kyle had excellent follow up, checked in with us and answered all our questions. And now our teachers have the confidence to try this approach in their classrooms, and this is having a great impact on learning here at BCIS.

Commonwealth-Parkville SchoolIn June 2020, as we completed three months of pandemic-induced remote teaching, we anticipated needing to start the following school year virtually as well. We were looking for a professional development experience that would help our teachers build a shared set of beliefs and strategies connected to distance learning, while not overwhelming them. We chose the four-part “Effective Instructional Strategies for Online Classrooms” webinar for our entire faculty, and the team at VHS helped tailor this course to our particular schedule and context. The presentations were informative, and the readings and online discussions were effective in generating good discussion. Thank you VHS!

Stamford American International School SingaporeThe course provided me with the momentum, insight and resources I needed to take action on incorporating Service Learning not only into my own courses, but schoolwide. The instructors are very knowledgeable and eager to help. They pushed my thinking and posed great questions to consider as I continue this journey. I walked away with a wealth of ideas, resources and created a full Service Learning unit that’s ready to be implemented in the fall! All in all, it was a very worthwhile 5-days if you are trying to improve your personal teaching practice and improve your school’s capacity to deliver a 21st-century educational program.

American International School of Hong KongKyle worked closely with 24 members of our staff through a pbl immersive program. As a result of his work, our students have examined the intersection between space and music, our outdoor leadership coordinator re-designed our service trips to include project based learning activities rooted to reach the SDG goals. Even educators that didn’t take the program have gotten wind and are looking to integrate more projects in their units. Working with Kyle was a dream come true. He comes with that kind of energy that re-ignites dormant passions. That paired with his deep understanding of PBL theoretically and practically through his many years of experience, and the plethora of schools he’s partnered with; provide foundation and motivation for our teachers to thrive in developing pbl units. His program is perfect for schools that are re-envisioning education for the future where learning isn’t dictated from the top down, but from student inquiry; and where departments don’t work in silos, but work collaboratively. <p class="LC20lb DKV0Md"> </p>

Head of School Officer, Beijing Chaoyang Kaiwen AcademyThroughout the training course, Henry invited professionals such as a foreign teacher, a parent, and an operations director to share their customer service encounters with the school's staff members. He also meticulously put all of us in groups to ensure diversity and encourage in-depth sharing. Henry also created case studies for us to role-play and practice the techniques. The case studies helped us to see challenges from the perspectives of colleagues in various departments. The whole training has given me two biggest inspirations: first, providing legendary service is teamwork.
Louise Bott
Glenealy Primary School, ESF Hong KongI can honestly say it has been an amazing learning experience that I’m so glad I took. The readings and videos made things very clear to understand and the high expectations of case study tasks ensured I put new knowledge and strategies into practise. My students are delighted that their home language is being celebrated and used more in the classroom and I can see the improvement in their English language as a result. Thank you for such a positive experience.
